Subject: OT: Yahoo stockboard changes
I am sure some of you, if not all of
you have tried the "new" beta of the Yahoo! stock boards. Personally I do not like
them. There are some aspects that are good, such as being able to look at all posts
of a certain nym, but other than theat they are a mess. Obviously Yahoo cannot leave
well enough alone.
On some sites they are now not allowing a switch back
to the original format. I found this on the Cisco site. Yahoo! fails to understand
that the simplicity of the stock boards is one of the great benefits. There is no
need or from what I have heard from others, nor great desire for threaded messages
that are not necessarily in time and date order. It is more like they wanted to
"refresh" the look and feel of the stock board, but went ten steps too far.
You need to let Yahoo know. On the "beta" stock board site there is a link in
the upper part of the board there is a link to "send us feedback" I strongly urge
you to let Yahoo know what you think. Please do not get nasty or vulgar, however
I think the direction of the changes for the stock boards can be influenced if enough
people post an objective opinion. Personally I think Yahoo! is trying to fix something
that is not broken. I can understand a desire to "freshen" the look, but the wholesale
changes in how things are posted are for the most part useless, in my opinion.
Let Yahoo know.

It falls on deaf ears, drichards.
They're not going to stop until it looks like myspace.
*shudder*

Boyle I would agree for the most
part, but I also come from the school of if you do not state an opinion, you have
no right to complain in the future, when and if the changes occur.
I feel
the same way about voting. If you did not vote I do not think you have much right
to complain.
Even with CalderaSCO many of us in the I.T. end of the business
are voting out support or lack there of, by avoiding the use of any products sold
by CalderaSCO. The investment community is voicing their support, or lack of support
for the CalderaSCO management by what they are willing to pay for SCOX, and it is
on an overall decline since April. Not a good thing for Darl and Ralphie.
So back to my point, if you do not let Yahoo know they are being dumb, then
you have little right to complain when the changes occur. Of course we can always
go over to the Google site for the SCOX board there. think of all the automated
ad clicks Yahoo! would loose.

I have
written.
It's like sending notes down a rathole.

I sent them a complaint for harrassment
because they were making me click thru all that junk to get to the old style board.
And I have been sending them feedback, all neg.

Usenet for those topics that still have active and community-minded netnews groups<<
Sadly, IMO, Usenet is not nearly as used, or useful, as it once was. Few ISPs
even include actual newsgroups.
In a way, usenet makes more sense than 100
different forums, all over the place. Although, usenet also has it's problems: such
as several redundant news groups.
