At least that might be somewhere close to interesting. I've just flicked through pages and pages of absolute drivel, as ratkillu spouts banal and impenetrable one-liners, and hoards of people shoot back similar banalities.

The guy makes Ledite look like a genius, and yet I didn't notice *anyone* complaining about any of that -- presumably because it doesn't threaten anyone's view of what geek social cohesion in the Great anti-Sco War of the aughties.

Loose lips sink ships and and all that...

But let's at least be honest about this. When we try to silence arguments about Groklaw, it isn't that we're doing so because they aren't interesting. We're trying to engage in censorship for political reasons.

And my take on the whole Groklaw/Sun/MS business?

Not interested.

So perhaps I should start posting some of those STFU posts that seem to be so popular on this board.

censorship?
hm if i add a person to ignore that is censorship right?
that is my right after all?
i dont have to see that post?
i am personally getting sick of the whining also
if you want your voice to be heard dont be disrespectful and offer things that are constructive
i am up all hours so i see lots of the posts before they are deleted.it is PJ's site
maybe we should have her change it so that people do like cnet or linuxtorday?
the posts have to be approved before they are posted?
hmmmmmmmm

You couldn't have it MORE wrong.

People here hate completely useless arguments about things that concern nobody and problems that can't be settled here. For example, someone coming here to complain about Groklaw is pointless. It's the same as someone going to Groklaw, or /. to complain about posts that are here. We as a group don't give a shit.

If you can't see the fun behind sarcastically thumping on a stupid post from ratkillu, well that's your choice and you could legitimately complain and POLITELY ask people to maybe change the subject and move on. But at least, you'd be complaining about something happening here. Complaining here about something that happened elsewhere, well...we don't care and we don't want to hear about it. Especially in light of the fact that some of those arguments are completely fabricated in order to bring dissention.

It's not political...it's just useless drivel.

And that is relevant to my comments about posting criticism here how?

/* thinks twice about responding */

1) Because there is a *tremendous* cross reference to articles and discussions from Groklaw to Yahoo! SCOX Finance;

2) Because there is significant cross-site participation between Yahoo! SCOX Finance and Groklaw;

3) Because there is no-fucking-where else to discuss what goes on at Groklaw because, as another poster has said, any discussion there is shouted down or otherwise suppressed (which is starting to happen here, as well..).

I mean, really, a whole hell of a lot of people "don't give a rip" about what goes on at Groklaw only because they tacitly or explicitly support PJ's policies.

Support for PJ's policies does not reasonably translate into "Groklaw shouldn't be discussed here" except in the minds of those who don't want to talk about it because in their minds the discussion is over.

As for the volume of posts *here* at least the Groklaw threads have some substance to them, which is in stunning contrast to the vast majority of drivel that's been on here lately...

Okay, I'll agree that you make pretty good points. In fact, those points are pretty well made also.

I'm not against the subject because I agree of disagree or anything like that. I suppose I'm more of the "don't give a shit, been there done that ,discussion should be over by now" type.
I didn't start this thread as a "stop talking about it" thread anyhow. It started by trying to clarify some of the motives behind that position. I'm just too practical to find anything usefull about the Grok thread here. To me it just sounds like people "venting"...
