Hello Dear Friends:

Microsoft is at it again!

Just like in Geogre Orwell's Animal Farm, Microsoft is seeking to change the
EULA with it's latest Media Player 7.1 "urgent security upgrade"!

Here is the second bulleted provision:

<quote>
"* Digital Rights Management (Security). You agree that in order to protect
the integrity of content and software protected by digital rights management
("Secure Content"), Microsoft may provide security related updates to the OS
Components that will be automatically downloaded onto your computer. These
security related updates may disable your ability to copy and/or play Secure
Content and use other software on your computer. If we provide such a
security update, we will use reasonable efforts to post notices on a web
site explaining the update. "
</quote>

Let me bring to your attention this passage:

<quote>
Microsoft may provide security related updates to the OS Components that
will be automatically downloaded onto your computer. These security related
updates may disable your ability to copy and/or play Secure Content and use
other software on your computer.
</quote>

It is despicable!

Microsoft, the biggest baddest most corrupt mega-corp on Earth, is now
insinuating itself into your operating system (The operating system you have
paid through the nose for) and is now going to dictate to you what you will
record and play!

Perhaps I should include George's equally appropriate "1984" to that
analogy!

Just another good reason to dump Microsoft and choose freedom with Linux!
Freedom in this case means freedom as in speech!

Here is a question for all the Microsoft apologists in this newgroup. Why is
Microsoft sending me this urgent upgrade notice for Media Player 7.1 when I
only have version 6.4 installed and NOT even set as the default player? I
use DivX, ATI Video player and WinAmp (Windows Media Player is a clunk).

It must be so embarrasing to be a Microsoft MVP - how do you look at
yourself in the mirror?

Best regards,

Brian
