Everyone here is complaining about how crap microsoft is. Some of you have
stated the other options of using Linux etc but yet most of you still seem
to be using Microsoft. If you all have such a big problem with Microsoft
products then it is simple, just stop using them and go for the other
alternatives.
Also, you are always going on about all the faults in Microsoft products but
there are a few things you are failing to see. The first thing is that it is
not easy to make a program that is error free, especially a whole operating
system. Yes Linus is more stable but that is because there is a much larger
number of people testing it and they release different versions very often.
Do u really want Microsoft releasing a new version as quick as it is done
with Linux? No you dont cause u couldn't stay ontop of it without breaking
the bank.
Secondly, if you think Microsoft are doing such a bad job then you have 2
options. Get a job at Microsoft so that you can make sure there aren't
errors in the programs, or you can make ur own programs to sell them and if
they are better then im sure they will sell but i dont think u will get
there.
So why dont u all either shut up or use something else.

Cheers,
Chris

Well, have to agree with you there. I do complain but I am still using
Microsoft.

My problem is I play games that ONLY run in Windows so I either have to give
up the games and change operating systems, Linux looks pretty cool actually,
or I'm gonna have to dual boot between Linux and Windows. I think the second
alternative looks best. Unfortunately, Windows XP doesn't permit
dual-booting taking away another option for it's users. I guess it's another
Microsoft technique to suppress the growth of alternate operating systems.

Well, Linux doesn't charge for upgrades, or even for an entire operating
system with TONS of utilities and applications including three different
Office suites if you like. The big laugh for me was the fact that Microsoft
is harping about the new features in XP, one of which is the ability to burn
CD-Rs. From what I understand, one of the best CD-R burning applications has
been included with Linux free for over 3 years - called cdrecord and
mkisofs. One of the tthings that totally pissed me off about Windows 2000
was that my EZ CD burning software would produce nothing but coasters.

Well, many people and companys have tried doing just that and been driven to
bankruptcy by Microsoft; haven't you been keeping up with current affairs?
You should read the findings of fact from the recent DOJ Federal case - the
punishment may have been over-ruled but the findings of fact remain.

Well, Chris - it's still a free country, Microsoft permitting, and this is a
forum for discussion about Microsoft and MSN. I am sure the people of
Microsoft would prefer this to be nothing but glowing praise for Microsoft,
it's executives and Bill Gates but that ain't gonna happen today.

Take the very unpleasent situation in which many of us now find ourselves;
MSN messenger has crapped out Without Notice or Warning! I don't believe for
a minute it was a planned event because no notice or warning were issued and
the status page only acknowledges a problem that they are working to correct
BUT that is all. Microsoft is known for putting a positive spin on it's own
problems and errors and none are forthcoming to date.

Further, Microsoft is famous for making performance and feature promises
which it routinely fails to meet but has the BALD-FACED gall to attack Open
Source projects like GNU Linux as parasitic. Who is sitting pretty with $25
billion in the bank - it sure isn't Linus Torvalds!

I would be happy if Microsoft came through on it's promises, properly
supported it's products and provided up-to-date documentation on it's
operating systems and applications.

I am still trying to figure out how to prevent MSN Messenger launching and
going online every time I start Outlook Express - I hate that!

Any Ideas folks?

Best regards,

Brian
